The "turnover" rate of female porno starlets is about the same as
it is
with employees in the fast-food industry. Maybe higher.
The competition for female talent is so tremendously high, that I
would say the average female porno performer will be active in the
business for about a year.
Many enter the biz as quickly as they leave. They come
and go. Few
stay in the biz for more than 2-3 years. For every female performer
who lasted for ten years or more (such as Jenna
Jameson, Shannah
McCullough, Ginger Lynn, Nina
Hartley, etc.), there are dozens and
dozens of porno starlets who spent one year making a dozen porno
videos,
and then leave the biz, never to be heard of again.
5-10 years by porno biz standards,
that's a lifetime for females!
The reasons of the short "life-cycle span" of a female starlet are
many and varied: bad working attitude, substance abuse, physical or
mental health problems, disapproval by parents/family, or just simply
burnout.
Others go into porn simply for money to pay for an education
(hey, it happens!) or they did it for fun or on a lark.
Also, there's starlets who take up the dancing tour before
they become performers in videos. While others who have done videos leave
the porno biz behind and simply go into strictly dancing tours or even
escorting.
I can't
comment if porno studios treat their talent any better/worse than that
of the "regular" mainstream non-porno companies.
"Taxi Driver" (1976) with Robert DeNiro takes place inTimes
Square Manhattan NYC - porno heaven
back then. There were more porno theaters, strip clubs, peep shows, sex toy shops,
adult book stores, and hookers than you could count.
On Robert DeNiro's first date with Cybill Shepherd, he takes her to the
Lyric porno theater. The 2 movies playing there were "Sometime Sweet
Susan" (which I will soon be buying) and "Swedish Marriage Manual".
Going by the 2 quick clips we saw of "SMM", it appears to be a Swedish
documentary film with English sub-titles. Does anyone here have any info
about "Swedish Marriage Manual"?
For those who remember (or would just like to see) the porno heaven that
Times Square Manhattan NYC used to be, "Taxi Driver" (1976) is the
mainstream movie for you.
